Carcassonne knew various occupations in its history: romains, Visigoths and king of France. The 52 tower of the 2 current enclosures concentrics add up 3 km of remparts. The heart of the city is consisted of the Château Comtal old residence of the Viscounts of Carcassonne during the Crusade against Cathars. At the XIXème century, the City was restored by Viollet Le Duc such as you can discover it today.
